Young People

At BCF Erskine, we are passionate about young people! We have lots going on as part of our regular programmes and also connect with our wider community and Elim Family to see our young people have an opportunity to follow Jesus and be discipled in their faith.

KIDS CHURCH

Kids’ Church takes place weekly (term time) on Sundays at 4pm, for all primary school aged kids!

We are a family church and value our children enormously. We believe that they are not just the future, but also the here and now. Seeing them excel and be inspired in their Christian walk brings us great joy.

Our aim is to help the kids enjoy a fun-filled time, build long-lasting friendships with their peers but most importantly, learn who they are in Jesus.

During our services they will stay in for sung worship before heading out to a space for them to have some specific teaching aimed at them by our fabulous Kids Church team, headed up by Margaret Dickson. Additionally, we provide space for our children to praise and to pray during these fun-filled sessions and this is a real focus for us as a team and a church.

If your kids are younger than nursery age, there are creche facilities available.

COATS FOR KIDS

No child should have to go out without a coat – whether that be to school, nursery or indeed anywhere. Coats For Kids is a project run by our church to try to help ensure this does not happen. We offer free brand new jackets and coats for all local kids aged 0-11 who need them.

For many families the cost of living is becoming more demanding, and just making ends meet becomes an increasing pressure and challenge. Coats For Kids exists to help ease this burden by taking away the pressure on these families to provide one of the essential items for their children. By working in partnership with the local schools, nurseries and social workers, we are able to discreetly find out those kids and families in most need, and offer them a brand new coat or jacket.

We collect donations of new coats or cash donations which is then used to buy new coats – if you would like to donate towards this project or find out more about it, please contact us on 07468 886260, or get in touch here to email us directly.

LIMITLESS YOUTH

Limitless Erskine is a youth group that runs on a Friday night from 19:30-21:00

It is for young people from P7-S6 and our aim is to create a fun and safe environment where our young people can come and build solid relationships with other teenagers their age, as well as explore their own personal relationships with God.

At Limitless we are a big family and we believe that there is power when we gather together as a growing community. We believe in having fun as it helps to build this community. We also truly believe in the power of Jesus to transform lives and that is at the core of everything we do at Limitless as we believe that teenagers are not the next generation but can be the difference-makers in the world now.

We have a varied programme monthly run by our amazing team of volunteers and mentors:

1st Friday of the month we meet at a local coffee shop for our Lighthouse Discipleship project. This gives the young people the opportunity to catch up with their mentors and discuss life, faith, and everything in between!

2nd and 4th Fridays of the month we meet at Erskine Nazarene Church where we explore what God’s word says about living for God as a young person these days.

3rd Friday of the month we meet at Park Mains High School for games and sports.

New people are always welcome to join us. For more info get in touch via email info@erskine.church

WHAT’S ON

A typical Friday night meeting usually involves various games, sports and activities followed by a time where the young people can engage with a specific topic and explore what God may want to say to them.

Our Friday night youth group is attended by young people from all across the Renfrewshire area and we love that we are able to raise up young people who attend other Churches to serve in their local settings as well. We also know that young people can often get a bad reputation in our society, but the young people that attend our Friday night are a pleasure to be around and we are proud of the example they set in their own contexts at home, school and amongst their friendship groups.

THE LIGHTHOUSE PROJECT

Additionally, we have recently launched a mentoring scheme for our young people called The Lighthouse Project. This sees our young people paired with a mentor who meets us with them every 4 weeks for a chat and to go through a programme that has been developed by the Limitless Erskine team. The aim of the project is to help the young people stay on the right path during their difficult teenage years and we are extremely excited to see how this develops over the coming years.
